Generation W presents:
ORIGINAL AIR DATE: 15TH SEPTEMBER 2020
ABOUT GENERATION WORLDWIDE DAY SEVEN:
The final day of the Generation Worldwide week experience.
Musicians around the world have been performing from home throughout the summer of 2020. Urban Kingdom constant collaborators HANNAH WILLIAMS & THE AFFIRMATIONS performed a special lockdown show with the whole band exclusively to their fans and we open day 7 by showing you this alongside a special quote from Hannah Williams taken from the book ‘Generation W’.
ELISA ERKA from Paris, France performs a record about love called Vautour, before DASHI from Prague, Czech Republic opens her acoustic rock set with a record called ‘Helen of Troy’, about vanity in a world that is in chaos, something that seems prophetic to social media during 2020 lockdown.
IORA from Manchester, UK includes in her set her record ‘Brothers and Sisters’ which is about uniting in harmony in tragedy; originally penned in response to the tragic Manchester arena bombing of 2017 which injured over 800 people and took the lives of twenty people who just came together to see a music concert.
On a lighter note, KAY WHT in Memphis, Tennessee gives us a raw, vocal performance that tells us we can do anything we want to do in life if we stay true. QICA from Sweden then performs a set which includes Wagner, which Urban Kingdom produced the music video for, and her record Women’s Problems, which encourages men to also understand why women deserve equality and how that is best for the world.
To hark back to the times of Urban Kingdom’s origins of raw, aggressive content, ASHEN in New York City performs an unfiltered, uncensored approach that captures the anger that many young people will have felt from their bedrooms in 2020. Generation Worldwide 2020 closes with FIFI RONG, Chinese born, London based musician who creates a mysterious, stylish performance from isolation which merges East and West in harmony.
